The bar graph shows general information on penury condition in the United States in 2008 broken down by gender and age, while pie chart illustrates proportion of women categorized by their marital status. Overall, it can be seen that single women with no dependent children made up the largest group in poverty and that poverty was highest for women and infants.
Due to pie chart around 80% of all women that are struggling from lack of wealth don’t have a husband, wherein more than a half of them have no children. This figure considerably above married women with dependents that make up less than a fifth of all representatives (12%) and married women lacking any offsprings (8%).
Turning to the bar chart, the highest rates of poverty were observed among youngsters, and the statistics were similar for males and females, at around 21% for those under 5 years old and 15% for those aged 5 to 17. However, between ages 18 and 24, the gap between men and women widened significantly, where amount of women exceeding those for men at over 20% compared to approximately 14% for men, and this gap increased steadily over the years to result in a twofold difference between genders, with women experiencing poverty at a rate of approximately 13% compared to the nearly 5% for men.
