Overall, it is clear that swimming, tennis and basketball have become more popular sports compared to remaining ones. The most common sport activity was swimming across all years.
Turning to details, in 1990 football and basketball were both preferred by 16% of school children, with former decreasing in popularity until 8% in 2010, while the interest in latter showed an upward trend to precisely a quarter in the end. The most favourite type of sport was swimming that comprised 39%, which then increased by 2% twenty years after.
Regarding the preference for tennis, it was the least preferred type of sport, accounting for just 4% in 1990, increasing until 7% in 2010. In contrast, other sports were much more common, comprising exactly a quarter. This number then experienced a moderate decline to 19% after two decades.
