The given pie charts illustrate the different ways that foreign students used to book online English classes in three countries – Australia, USA, and Canada – between 2009 and 2010.
Overall, it is apparent that pre-booking with an agent was the most popular method in the USA and Canada over the period, whereas international students in Australia enjoyed booking these courses via the internet.
In terms of Australia, the number of foreign students, who arrived at booking places, increased marginally after 1 year, from 26% to 30%. Similarly, other ways used by students when booking online English courses also went up by 3%. Meanwhile, the percentage of students booking these classes through the internet showed a dramatic increase, reaching approximately 40% in 2010. Conversely, the pre-booking with an agent witnessed a downward trend, declining about three times during the surveyed period.
Regarding America, there were modest rises in two types – pre-booked with an agent, and other ways – by 4% and by 3%, respectively. Remarkably, the rate of students arriving to book the online English courses stayed the same unchanged at 24%, while internet booking recorded a slight fall from 26% in 2009 to 25% in 2010.
For Canada, the arrival book used to be a dominant method at 45% in 2009, but this figure decreased sharply in the next year and reached to 26%. In contrast, the proportion of international attendees pre-booking these classes went up significantly and became the most favourable way in this nation, from 22% to 35%. The figure in other ways grew more than three-fold, from 6% to 18%, while the internet booking fell lightly throughout the period, decreasing to 25%.
