The pie chart given compares five different kinds of books based on the percentage of books sold by a bookseller from 1972 to 2012, at 20-year intervals.
Looking at the illustration, it is immediately evident that Adult’s fiction and Children’s fiction showed an increase figure in the percentage of books sold by the bookseller, whereas the opposite was true for Biography and Others, except for Travel, in view of the fact that this type of book had dramatic changes. Additionally, in most years, Biography books were constantly the area with the lowest percentage of books sold by a bookseller. In 1972, Other books dominated the chart with a quarter of all books surveyed selling in this field, compared to 20% of books sold in Biography, Adult’s fiction, and Children’s fiction.
By the year of 1992, Adult’s fiction books had overtaken Others to be the most figure out of the five. In 2012, after some fluctuations, the percentage for Adult’s fiction books experienced exponential growth and reached a peak at 45%. An opposite pattern could be seen in the figures for Biography, Travel, and Others, which sharply went down to 8%, 10%, and 12%, respectively. Meanwhile, the percentage of Children’s fiction books jumped moderately to 25%.
