The three pie charts provide information about the alterations in the percentage of five kinds of books, namely adult fiction, children’s fiction, biography, travel, and others from 1972 to 2012.
Overall, it is evident that there were upward trajectories in the percentage of adult fiction, and children’s fiction, while the reserve was true fro biography, travel, and others. Of particular note is the adult fiction, which underwent a significant growth and become the dominant kind of book at the end of the period.
Looking at the details, in 1972, with standing 25%, the others were by far the most popular kind of books while corresponding figures were the adult fiction, children’s fiction, and biography 20% and it ranked second. These figures saw a noticeable rise to 45%, and 25%. The difference between the adult fiction, and the children’s fiction were about 25%, and 5%. But, as for the biography, its share was 20% in the initial year. This percentage declined slightly to 8%. Regarding the travel, it stood at 15% and during the years it fell with some fluctuations to 10%. As far as the others are concerned, they were the most selected proportion at 25% in 1972. This trend also dropped substantially to 12% in 2012.
