The presented pie charts illustrate the proportion of five types of books that were sold by a bookseller over a period of time.
Looking from an overall perspective, it can be clearly evident that some books selling rates saw a significant rise, whereas others dropped dramatically.
To begin, Adult Fiction is what saw the biggest change, as it jumped from 20% to 45% from 1972 to 2012 respectively. Next in line is Children’s Fiction, the degree of selling increased slightly by the year 2012 merely by a small fraction (20% to 25%).
However, some sorts of books saw declinations in their figures regarding their selling percentage. An example is: Biography, which saw a drop in figure by more than half of what was beeing sold at 1972 (20% to 8%). Other types of books similarly plummed going from 25% to 12% between 1972 and 2012.
Surprisingly, the selling percentage of one type of book fluctuated, which was Travel books. Sold 15% in 1972, soared slightly in 1992 to 18%, then finally dropped to 10% in 2012.
