Overall, the percentage of students taking music theory fell to less than one-fifth of all courses, while participation in most of the other subjects increased. In contrast, enrolment in IT, which was not offered in 1989, accounted for just over a quarter this year, whereas several other courses experienced a decline.
Moreover, participation in modern languages stood at around 24% in 1989, but by the present year it had slightly decreased by about 7% to 17%. Likewise, the proportion of students taking art courses fell by approximately 2%, while the percentage of dance and fitness students remained stable across both years.
On the other hand, cookery enrolment figures accounted for just under one-fifth in 1989, and by the present year they had moderately risen by about 5% to 19%. Furthermore, students taking local history courses made up around 15%, whereas music theory recorded the lowest proportion, at less than 10% in 1989. In contrast, the high proportion of students experienced just over a quarter in IT in the present year.
