Two pie charts illustrate the reasons behind emigration from and immigration to the UK in 2007.

Overall, it is evident that the primary reason that led people to arrive in the UK was having a certain job. Also, in terms of immigration, formal study accounted for the second largest proportion.

According to the graph for immigration, we can see that a definite job was the main motive for people to live in the country, with a share of 30%. In addition, the purpose of studying was the next most popular reason, and it was responsible for 26%.

In contrast, a definite job was also a leading cause for people to emigrate and made up almost the same percentage of 29%, whereas accompaniment had a rate of 22%. It is noteworthy that some people decided not to mention the reason for their emigration, and they made up almost the same share of 18%.
