The pie charts compare the propotions of different class sizes in primary schools across four australian regions-New south wales,South Australia,Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia in 2010.
Overall, medium-sizes classes of 21-25 students were the most common in most regions,while very large classes of 30 students or more accounted for the smallest propotion. The Australian Capital Territory,however,had a particularly high percentage of medium-sized classses compared with the other states.
In New south Wales, the largest share of classes consisted of 21-25 students,at about 37%.Classes with 16-20 pupils represented roughly 33%, while smaller classes of 20 students or fewer made up 26%.Only a small minority,around 4%,had 30 students or more.
A simillar pattern can be seen in South Australia,where classes of 21-25 students were also the most common at approximately 33%.Meanwhile,about 28% of classeshad 16-20 students, and slightly more,around 36%,contained 20 students or fewer.Large classes at least 30 students accounted for only about 4%.
