The maps illustrate the changes that have occurred in a local museum and its surrounding area from 1957 to 2007.
Overall, the museum underwent significant modifications in both its internal layout and outdoor environment over the fifty-year period. The most noticeable transformations include the reduction in garden space and the introduction of new visitor facilities.
In 1957, the museum featured a relatively straightforward layout and was surrounded by a large garden. It was positioned at the centre of the site, with a curved path running from the southern road to the entrance hall. Inside the building, there were three main rooms. The largest was a national history exhibition at the rear of the museum, while a local history room was situated on the left and a museum store room was on the right.
By 2007, the museum had been dramatically expanded and modernised. The entrance was relocated to the western of the building, and the curved path was removed. A shop was added at the entrance, leading into a new reception area. Meanwhile, several other facilities were introduced, including a cafe, a special exhibitions area, and an education centre. Additionally, the local history room was enlarged and repositioned at the centre kf the museum, replacing the original national history exhibition. Externally, much of the southern garden was cleared to make room for a car park, although some green space remained in the northwest.
