The two maps illustrate the changes that have taken place in Grange Park between 1920 and today. Overall, the park has undergone important transformation, with modern facilities replacing some of its original elements to enhance visitor experience.
In 1920, the park featured a central fountain, surrounded by seating areas and rose gardens. To the left of the fountain was a stage for musicians, while the right side contained a pond for water plants and a glasshouse. The park had entrances from both Arnold Avenue and Eldon Street, with seating areas located throughout.
Over time, the park has been transformed to better accommodate visitors. The fountain was removed and replaced by a large rose garden with seating. The musician’s stage was converted into an amphitheater, while the glasshouse was replaced with a children’s play area. Additionally, a café was introduced near the Arnold Avenue entrance, and a water feature took the place of the pond. A major new development is an underground car park, providing more convenience for visitors.
Overall, Grange Park has evolved from a simple green space into a more functional and visitor-friendly area with enhanced recreational facilities.
