The pictures illustrate how Newtown Theater has developed between 2000 and the present. Overall, the venue has undergone considerable expansion, with the increasing in seating capacity, the removal of the adjacent park, and the relocation and addition of several customer amenities.
In the northern section, although the stage remains in roughly the same position, it has been expanded significantly to cover almost the entire width of the backstage. Besides that, the seating area has been extended and the venue has been enlarged toward Main Road. This allows for additional rows in all three seating columns and enhances the seating capacity from 400 to 500.
Significant changes have been made on the eastern side, where the previous park has been cleared to make room for a new foyer. Unlike in 2000, when there was a single entrance facing the main road, access is now provided through two separate entrances on the eastern side. Facilities that were originally located near the front entrance – namely toilets, coat storage, refreshments, and ticket counters – have been moved into this expanded foyer area. In addition, a restaurant has been constructed adjacent to the toilets, representing a new feature of the theater.
