The maps illustrate the changes that have taken place in Porth Harbour between 2000 and the present day.
Overall, the harbour has undergone considerable redevelopment, with several new facilities introduced to attract more visitors. The most significant changes include the relocation of boating areas, the replacement of the disused castle with a hotel, and the conversion of a public beach into a private one.
In 2000, the western side of the harbour featured a marina for private yachts in the north, while fishing boats were located further south. By today, these two areas have exchanged positions, with the marina being relocated to the south-west and the fishing boat area moved to the north-west. Additionally, a second shower and toilet block and another car park have been constructed, providing greater convenience for visitors. The docking facilities have also been modified, with an additional dock created.
In the southern part of the harbour, the most notable development is the replacement of the disused castle with a hotel. Cafés and shops have also been introduced nearby, creating a more tourist-friendly environment. Furthermore, the former public beach in the south has been converted into a private beach for hotel guests. In contrast, the northern public beach, passenger ferry area and lifeboat station have remained unchanged throughout the period.
