The two maps demonstrate the ground floor of a library before and after its refurbishment in 2001 and 2009.
Overall, many new genres of books and facilities were added over the period. In contrast, the librarian’s desk and the stairs remained in the same place in both years.
While, in 2001, the library was divided in 3 genres of books, namely self-help, history and fiction, after redevelopment, kitchen, economics and law was added and all six genres were placed in the west side of the ground floor. On the shelfs, where were newspaper and periodicals in 2001, films and DVDs were put there in 2009.
Furthermore, a children’s area and computers were added at the center of library and near the stairs, respectively. In the north side of the library, the shelves with fiction books were changed by more tables. The tables in the center of the library had become longer, which is more convenient for readers.
