The map illustrates how the ground floor of a library was changed from 2001 to 2009. Overall, the ground floor’s size had been unchanged. The ground floor could provide a wider selection of reading materials for visitors in 2009.
In 2001, self-help and history books were in the west of the floor, which were opposite newspaper & periodicals area. The fiction books area lied north of the floor. Librarian’s desk, entrance and strairs were in the southern area. In the center of the floor, many reading tables were located there.
By 2009, the librarian’s desk, the entrance and the stairs remained unchanged. The self-help, fiction, history books had been narrowed and relocated to the southwestern area. There were newly added books area: kitchen, economics and law, which had been set up next to other books area. The newspaper & periodicals area had been removed to give place to an area for films & DVDs. There was a place for computers which was placed between the films & DVDs and the stairs. Eight small tables were in the middle of the floor which had been replaced by four long tables. Set of tables were in the northern area of the floor where close to a children’s area.
