The maps depict the major alterations made to the ground floor of a particular museum from 1990 to 2010.
Overall, it is evident that the layout has expanded slightly, and several recreational facilities have been added to accommodate a larger number of visitors. Additionally, some key locations have been removed and relocated.
In 1990, visitors could access the museum via the northern entrance, which leads to a reception counter just in front of the museum office on the left, while the local history room is located on the right. Additionally, visitors can could visit the archaeology gallery beside the local history room as they were separated by a door. More interestingly, the statue is situated near the stairs, which is at the south of plan. Notably, the gift shop is in proximity to these two locations, with the natural history room adjacent to it.
After the reconstruction, the entrance to the ground floor has been doubled in size. In addition, the reception counter was now facing the entrance, while still being in front of the museum office. The space once occupied by the archaeology gallery has now been cleared for a children’s interactive zone and a poster display area, which is separated by a wall. Furthermore, both the natural history room and the local history room have remained unscathed, however; a pair of doors were removed from the latter location. Also, the gift shop has now been expanded, with a cafe built inside and a lift next to it. Lastly, the statue once located next to the stairs has been repositioned to the centre of the plan.
