The maps illustrate the transformation of the ground floor of a museum between 1990 and 2010. Overall, the most significant alteration is the disappearance of the archaeology gallery. It is also clear that the stairs, the natural history room, and the museum office remained intact after 20 years.
To be more specific, the stairs at the top of the map remained unchanged, but the statue located right next to them was relocated to the center of the museum. The gift shop in the top left corner was extended and a new café was added to the gift shop. It is also noticeable that a lift was built between the gift shop and the natural history room. In the bottom left corner, the museum office experienced no change, but the reception counter stayed beside it increased in size and was moved closer to the entrance, which was also enlarged.
In 1990, there was an archeology gallery in the top right corner of the museum; however, by 2010, it had been divided into two equal parts. The top part had been turned into a children’s interactive zone, while the bottom part had become a poster display area. Also, all three areas to the right of the museum have become open spaces, rather than closed spaces as it was in 1990.
