The diagram gives information about the cultivation of pineapples and how they are processed into a variety of products.
There are multiple steps, which are separated into two main stages consisting of cultivation, requiring about one year, and production, resulting in three types of products, namely pineapple juice and slices, and raw pineapples for export.
Regarding cultivation phase, the crowns are grown around 26 centimeters apart from each other in sunny weather with temperatures of 28-30 celsius to ensure the best development condition. After 7 months, immature pineapples are sprayed ethylene and left for growing up more 5 months ultil they reach the standard size of 30-centimeter height and 2-kilogram weight. At this point, the grown pineapples are harvested to serve the production phase.
In production phase, harvested pineapples are washed by water and sorted into three different sizes, called small, medium and large. As for the small and medium, their crowns are cut, while the skin is peeled before undergoing an extractor to make pineapple juice, and being sliced and canned to turn into the pineapple slices product, respectively. Meanwhile, cleaned big pineapples are covered by a thin wax layer to keep the fresh longer, which are then placed into crates before shipping abroad.
