The bar chart illustrates the percentage of both men and women employed with ages ranging from 60-64 in Belgium, USA, Japan and Australia in 1997 and 2000.
Overall,the percentage of men who were employed in the four countries were enormous in contrast to the women.
Firstly ,Around 85 percent of men worked in 1970 in Japan which is the highest percentage overall with a little over 43percent for the women in the same country. Although the level was reduced in 2000 for the men to about 19percent but it still stayed higher than that of women. Furthermore,in USA it was approximately 73percent for the men and 36 for the women in 1970 with 55 and 39 for both genders respectively in 2000 with the women surpassing the men . In addition japan had an enormous increase in the workforce for the men with 85 percent of them employed in the early year and 74 in the latter contradicting the women with 43 and 40 percent, meanwhile Australia had an increase of 76 percent for the men with a very reduced rate of 16percent for the women in 1970 and were also far ahead of the women in 2000.
In conclusion, the workforce has a massive inflow of make workers as compared to the women in the four different countries with Japan being the highest with over 85 and 43 percent for the men and women respectively in 1970.
