The table and the pie graphs reveal data about the police budget for two separate years in one British region. The table illustrates the sources of funding, while the pie charts present information about the three main items of expenditure.
Overall, the police financial actives showed moderate growth, with most money provided by the national government. As regards the outlay, the largest part of the budget was allocated to salaries in both years, despite the trend witnessing a slight fall in the final year.
To begin, the local police received a total of 304.7 million pounds in 2017 and this rose to 318.6 million in the following year. Just over a half of all the money was donated by the national government at 175.7 and 177.8 million in 2017 and 2018 respectively. The share originating from local taxes rose from 91.2 to 102.3 million across the time span. The finance coming from other sources such as grants remained relatively unchanged, showing a 0.5 increase from 38 to 38.5 million.
As regards the outgoings of the police department, three-quarters of the total budget was expended on salaries in 2017 and this fell to 69% in 2018. As for expenses on construction and vehicles, they remained stable, at 17% in both years. Meanwhile, the costs on technology grew almost twofold, rising from 8% to 14%.
