The table illustrates how many miles people in the Netherlands went travelling by distinct means of transport in 2001 and 2006.
Overall, it is obvious that there was an upward trend in the number of distances through all the transportation, with the exception of walking, bicycles, and public buses. Furthermore, cars were by far the most common throughout the period between 2001 and the next 5 years.
Looking at the graph in more detail, starting at 3199 miles, the total distances that people travelled by car witnessed a sharp increase of over 1000 miles. Plus, there was a significant rise of 70 miles in the travelling gap of the public distance bus. The distances of trains increased significantly owing to the gradual growth of more than 100 miles. Dutch travellers tended to move to destinations by other transportation. From 450, the total distance spent by visitors climbed to 585 miles.
Turning to the next data set, both the total distances of bicycles and walking decreased gradually by over 10 miles. Furthermore, there was a dramatic drop of approximately 200 miles in the distances of local buses after the 5 years. In spite of the fact that, the total travelling gap of all the modes of travel increased noticeably from 4740 to 6475 after 5 years.
