The table presents data related to statistics about rail transport in Malaysia, Canada, China, and the United Arab Emirates in 2007.
Overall, the figures of people traveling by rail transport, except for the metro, demonstrated that China held dominance in rail transport usage, while Canada emerged as the country with the lowest numbers of travelers. Nevertheless, the numbers for passenger kilometers per head and cargo carried appeared to be more variable among all the given countries.
In terms of the number of users, China substantially surpassed the other countries with 27 million individuals, which is significantly more than in Malaysia with 5.9 million, UAE’s 5.5 million, and Canada’s 0.3 million, exhibiting a marked difference in rail transport utilization between these countries. Similarly, in passenger kilometers per head China took the leading position with an impressive 1980 kilometers per individual, while Canada’s kilometrage stood at 80 kilometers per head. Meanwhile, the figures of Malaysia and the UAE were practically equal, with 770 kilometers per head and 780 respectively.
Regarding cargo carried, Canada demonstrated the highest cargo capacity by transporting 28.20 billion tons. This was followed by China, which carried 23.01 billion tons, while the capacities of both Malaysia and the UAE were relatively the same with 22.2 billion tons and 21.9 in turn.
