The data illustrates the amount of people who worked in six industries, including manufacturing, retail, health care, construction, education and tourism, of Australia during the time frame of 1989 to 2009.
Overall, manufacturing industry comprised highest percentage of workers as compared to tourism that showed lowest value in 1989. Moverover, in 2009 majority of the labor was employed in health care sector, leaving tourism again as the least attracted industry by workers. Retail and manufacturing are the only sectors which displayed decrease in their workforce value whereas every other industry raised their figures.
Manufacturing demonstrated drastic decrease in the percentage of people working, from 15% in 1989 to 9.8% in 2009. Secondly, retail industry also declined from 11.8% to 10.1% during this period. On the other hand, health care experienced increase in the workforce from 9.6% to 11.3% over the decade. Similarly, construction, education and tourism also inclined their percentages from 7.6, 6.8 and 5.5 to 8.3, 7.5 and 7.3 respectively.
