With three cities who is quite new systems, Washington DC, operated in 1976, has the longest route at 126 kilometers and serves the most significant number of passengers, surpassing Kyoto and Los Angeles, with 45 million and 50 million people who use the underground system each year respectively. Despite having a shorter route length compared to Kyoto, indicating higher usage of its underground network.
