The table compares the expenses on various items in five countries – Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey – in 2002.
From an overall perspective, it is evident that every country spent a higher percentage of money on food, drinks, and tobacco, while the second most common category was clothing or footwear.
In Turkey and Ireland, people had an average expenditure of 30 percent, while others spent less than 20 percent of their income on expenses. The percentage of expenses allocated for clothing was nearly 6.5% in Ireland, Spain, and Turkey, while this figure was highest in Italy at 9% and lowest in Sweden at 5.4%. Spending on education and recreation was insufficient. Only, 1.98% of Spanish people distributed money on it. In Italy and Sweden, it reached for 3.20% and 3.22%, respectively. Remained countries had a distribution of 2.21% and 4.35%.
