The table presents information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002: Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Turkey. The items include Food,Drinks and Tobacco; Clothing and Footwear; Leisure and Education.
Overall, Food, Drinks and Tobacco had the highest percentage of national consumer expenditure, whereas Leisure and Education tended to be the least, particularly in Spain and Ireland. Clothing and Footwear’s consumer expenditure was moderate, falling between the other two categories in most countries.
Now turning to the details, third category had the least percentage in Ireland at 2,21%, compared to other two categories which percentage of sales were 28,91 per cent and 6,43 per cent respectively. Spain spending were the highest on first category, with the percentage of eighteen point eighty, followed by Clothing and Footwear at six point fifty one, and Leisure and Education at 1,98.
Italy spending vary slightly, with Food, Drinks and Tobacco costs the most at 16,36%, followed by other two categories which were nine per cent and three point twenty per cent respectively. Turkey was lowest in third expenditure at four points thirty five per cent, while first expenditury costs the most in this country at 32,14%, and second category made up six point sixty three per cent.
