The table shows the difference in cocoa bean production in North Central American region, Caribbean, South America, Africa, Asia and Occeanis from 1992 to 1998.
Overall, the leader of the cocao bean producrion among the period was Africa, while the least number of cocao bean was produced in Occeanis. The amount of production was fluctuated between the years; however, the downward trend can be seen in South Africa, Asia and Occeanis region.
As for the leaders of the cacao bean production, in 1992 the largest number of beans was risen in Africa, accounting for 1,397,000 tons. In 2 years the production slightly increased but, between 1994 and 1996, rocketed from 1,414,000 tons to 1,920,000 tons. During last 2 years of the period, the production dropped be about 100,000 tons to 1,822,000 tons. Meanwhile, the second region-leader was South America in the beginning of the period, while by the 1998 the place was taken by Asia. The number of cacao beans in South America was 568,000 tons in 1992 and steadily decreased among the years to 333,000 tons. In contrast, in Asia was significant increase from 416,000 tons to 498,000 tons between 1992 and 1994. However, then numbers dropped to about the same amount and slightly decreased to 414,000 to 1998.
As for the other regions, Caribbean region was the leader among them with 52,000 tons in 1992. In first 2 years the numbers climbed by 17,000 tons to 69,000 and remained stable for the next 2 years. By the end of the perion amount of the cacao bean production slightly dropped to 68,000. However, the North Central American region showed the different pattern with fluctuation, but the same number of the production at the beginning and the end of the period, accounting for 50,000 tons. As for the region with the least amount of production, the number of the cacao beans Occeanis was 42,000 tons on 1992; however, with fluctuation among the period the region ended up with 34,000 tons in 1998.
