The table presents the comparison of six employment models between men and women in New Zealand in two separate years: 1993 and 2003.
Overall, the figure for services and transport was the highest in female workforce in the two mentioned years. Meanwhile, males primarily worked in agriculture sector in 1993 and in services and transport in 2003.
n 1993, 53% of employed women worked in services and transport area while the figure for male only less than a half, making up 22%. Manufacturing ranked the most second sector in women workforce, accounting for 25%. The percentage of males in that sector accounted for 16%. Concerning the social services, woman took up 13% while men represented 5%. By contrast, in agriculture field, man made up 38%, which higher than 30% compared to women. Similarly, there were more man than women working in business and building fields, which 1% of women and 7% of man, and 0% , 12% respectively.
In 2003, the percentage of female continually outweighed the figure for male in services and transport, accounting for 36% and 31% respectively. Social services were also preferred women with 18% higher than a half of the male figure. There was a nearly balanced distribution in four sectors: agriculture, business, manufacturing and building when the proportion of woman was 2 to 5 percent lower than men.
