The table compares the expenditure on health services among five distinct nations including Japan, Italy, Germany, France and USA in 2002.
Overall, France allocated the highest budget for both public and private spending while Japan spent the least due to the least spending by private.
Regarding the public spending, France accounted for the largest share at exactly 8.6%, and the figures for Germany and USA were lower, at 7% and 6% in that order. But they were higher than these of Japan and Italy, at 5.8% and 5.3% respectively. In terms of private spending, France allocated the most with the share of 2.8%, compared to USA (2.6%), whereas the figure recorded lower in Italy and Germany being the same at the level of 2.3%. And Japan spent the least with just 1.4%.
Turning to the total, 11.4% of France’s budget was paid for health services, and the figures for Germany and USA were lower, at 9.3% and 8.6% in that order. Moreover, Italy and Japan were the nations which have the least expenditure on health, making up 7.7% and 7.2%.
