In general, public funding accounted for a significantly larger proportion than private spending in all countries. Furthermore, France is reported to be the country with the highest expenditure in both public and private sectors.
Germany had a total spending of 9.3% while the USA and Italy stood at 8.6% and 7.7% respectively. Germany was also the country with the highest public investment among the three at 7%, exceeding the USA by 1% and Italy by 1.7%. The opposite pattern was true regarding private expenditure. The USA reported 2.6% followed by Italy at 2.4% and Germany at 2.3%
France ranked first at a total of 11.4%, higher than that of Japan by over 4%. Their public spending was 8.6%, which was significantly over the 5.8% of Japan. Private expenditure shared a similar situation, with France doubling Japan’s figure at 2.8%.
