The proportion of money spent in the USA was 8% in total figure, with 6% for public expenditure and 2.6% for private expenditure; compared to 7,7% in total expense in Italy, as their corresponding figures stood at 5,3% and 2,4% in 2002. Slightly below was the figure for Japan, which recorded as the lowest figure among all the five examined countries, having 5,8% for public expense and merely 1,4% for private expense.
