The table compares age group information about the population of New Zealand, over a one-year period, between 2011 and 2012. The date is presented in percentage.
From an overall perspective, it can be seen that the general population in New Zealand across all age groups grew slightly over the year. Of particular note is that the older individuals rose, while the proportions of the young and middle-aged categories fell.
Looking at the table in more detail, it is apparent that all ages increase by 0,6%. Firstly, children accounted for 898,160 in 2011, however, they diminished by 0,2% over the year and accounted for 896,364. Moreover, the population from 15 to 39 years old also dropped as children and in 2012 accounted for 1,574,102. If we take a closer look at the people with categories 40-64, which in 2011 accounted for 1,331,907, on the contrary, it has increased by 0.6%. The lowest rates of enhancement show the category of 65+ people, and increase by 4.0%.
