The tables compare the population of four age brackets in New Zealand over a year period starting from 2011.
Generally, the share of adolescents ranging from 15 to 39 was the largest figure of the table while it was the case for the group of the elderly. Additionally, the data of groups under 15 experienced minimal change over the given period.
Concerning the figure for those aged over 15 and below 65, in the beginning year, the data of the former group which is 15-39 years old, constituting 1.577.256, becoming the major contributor to the overall population size, then slightly declined to 1.574.102 in 2012. Population of the middle ages 46-64 years old, starting at 1.331.907 in 2011 and then finished at roughly 1.339.898. In addition, those mentioned age groups have different percentage of changes, ranging from -0.2% to +0.6% respectively
Regarding the remaining categories, the share of teenagers under the age of 15 occupied for 898.160 people in 2011 then witnessed a slight decrease of 1796 people a year later, perhaps for having a minimal percentage of change ( -0.2%). Over the same period, the figure for the old population was the lowest data of the table, standing at only 573.946 but then suddenly experienced a significant rise to 596.903. Notably, the proportion of change recorded in the elderly group surpassed all other age brackets ( +4.0%)
