The table displays the population change of New Zealand divided by age group of under 15, 15-39, 40-64, and over 65 from 2011 to 2012.
Overall, any age group did not see significant change in the given period. Two groups of under 15 and 15-39 decreased slightly and there was a little increase of population among the people who are over 40 years old.
Population of New Zealand rose by 0.6% in one year from 4.38 million to 4.4 million. Number of who are under 15 and between 15 to 39 were dropped by 0.2%, in other words 2000 people. In contrast, population of 40-64 people was 1.331 million at the beginning, then showed a rise in 2012 by 0.6%, reached about 1.34 million. The age group that had the most growth was the elders who are over 65. There were 573,946 of them in 2011 and grew by 4.0%, reached 596,903 after a year.
