The table compares how much three species of fish namely, Arctic char, Salmon and Rainbow trout cultivated in a region in the years 2008 and 2018.
Overall, the quantity of all types mainly underwent noticeable growths and rainbow trout has consistently been the least. While Artic chart dominated initially, Salmon was cultivated in far greater number amount towards the end of the period.
Arctic char and Salmon were the most farmed species. In the first year, 3124 million tonnes of Arctic char were produced in this region. As this figure was more than 10 times greater than the next highest, farmed salmon at 292 million tonnes, this species clearly dominated at that time. However, Arctic char fell slightly in 2010 and rose only gradually from 2012 onwards, while salmon rose exponentially in almost every following 2-year period. In fact, by 2014, Salmon overtook Arctic char, and hit the peak at 13448 million after 2 years, considerably more than other species.
In contrast, rainbow trout was continually cultivated in relatively small groups, beginning at just 6 million tonnes in 2008. Although it went up steadily, reaching a peak of 2138 million tonnes in 2016, this level was short-lived as by 2018 it had fallen to 295, which almost the same as Salmon’s starting point ten years earlier.
