The table below depicts the average band results for individuals who participated in the listening, reading, writing, and speaking sections during the IELTS examination across four countries in 2010. Looking from an overall perspective, it is evident from the table that the total band score for all students across all sections was above 6.0. In addition, German students had the highest scores in all sections except reading. Conversely, French and Indonesian individuals recorded similar scores on the reading test.
To start with, German students recorded the highest result with an overall band score of approximately 6.7. French students followed closely in second with a total band score of 6.5. Malay and Indonesian exam takers recorded overall band scores of 6.4 and 6.3, respectively.
In the reading test, although exam takers from France and Indonesia each scored an average band score of 6.1, students from Malaysia and Germany had the highest scores for this section, with approximately 6.4 and 6.3, respectively. Similarly, the highest band score in the listening test was achieved by German individuals, but both French and Indonesian students recorded similar results of 6.3. Notably, German students aced both the writing and speaking tests, achieving band scores of 6.6 and 6.9, respectively, which were the highest for both sections.
