The report illustrates the proportions of people who participated in seven various sports in a particular country in Europe at three five-year intervals: 1999, 2004 and 2009.
Overall, it is clear that attendance rates in tennis, swimming, golf, volleyball and yoga witnessed an upward trend of varying degrees, except for football and basketball, which both experienced a minimal decline.
Tennis and golf exhibited the most pronounced rise in their attendance rates. Starting at 25% and 8%, their figures rose to 30% and 13% in 2004, before further growing to 33% and 17% respectively, in the final year. Distantly following behind were swimming, yoga and volleyball, whereas the growth percentages were not as significant, only from 32%, 10% and 17% to 34%, 13% and 18% respectively.
The remaining two sports participation rates were outliers in the chart in that they witnessed a reverse trend. Specifically, participation in football and basketball waned in popularity, with their proportions declining to almost 48% and 24%, from an initial 57% and 26% respectively over the span.
