Yoga was one of the least popular sports, although it experienced a modest rise by the end of the period.
In 1999, football had the highest participation rate at 57%, but this figure fell steadily to 52% in 2004 and then to 48% in 2009. Swimming was the second most popular activity, increasing slightly from 32% in 1999 to 34% in both 2004 and 2009. Tennis also showed a clear upward trend, rising from 25% to 33% over the ten-year period.
Regarding the remaining sports, golf saw a noticeable increase, with participation more than doubling from 8% in 1999 to 17% in 2009. Volleyball increase from 17% to 20% in 2004 before declining slightly to 18% in 2009. Basketball experienced a small decrease, dropping from 26% to 24%. Although yoga remained relatively unpopular, its participation rate increased from 10% to 13% by 2009.
