The given table illustrates how the proportions of seven types of sports played by individuals had changed in a European country between 1999 and 2009.
By and large, it is apparent that football had the highest percentage among other sports in all periods, while both golf and yoga were nearly the most unpopular activities with the lowest figures. Moreover, mostly sports witnessed a slight increase after a decade, the exception for football and basketball whose proportions had a fall.
In 1999, the highest proportion belonged to Football, with about 57%. This figure was almost double that of swimming. Both the percentages of tennis and basketball were the same, at about 25% and 26%, in turn. Similarly, the figure for yoga was only higher than 2% compared to golf. In 1994, although football saw a decrease to 52%, it was also more prevalent than other sports. While the proportion of people playing basketball had an insignificant decline to 25%, that of doing yoga remained unchanged. Besides, other activities had a rise, the primary example was tennis climbing to 30%.
After a decade, both the figures for basketball and football continually went down to 48% and 24%, respectively. Despite having a decrease to 18%, the proportion of volleyball generally rose when compared to that at the beginning of the period. In contrast, other sports steadily increased in the final period, except for swimming, whose figure was as high as that in 1994.
