A glance at the table above reveals the information regarding the changes in Hong Kong exports across five categories between 2009 and 2010, measured in billions of HK dollars. Overall, it can be clearly seen that the exports increased by 20% from 32 billion HKD in 2009 to 38.4 billion HKD in 2010 with most sectors experienced growth, particularly metals and telecommunications, while clothing and manufacturing exports saw notable declines.
To begin with, the metals category experienced the most significant growth, rising by 122%, from 2.3 billion HKD in 2009 to 5.1 billion HKD in 2010. Similarly, telecommunications exports also saw substantial growth of 61%, increasing from 7.9 billion HKD to 12.7 billion HKD. Equipment sector grew by 13%, from 10.3 billion HKD to 11.6 billion HKD.
In contrast, the clothing and manufacturing sectors experienced declines, clothing exports decreased by 17%, dropping from 6 billion HKD to 5 billion HKD. Manufacturing category experienced the steepest decline, with a 27% drop from 5.5 billion HKD to 4 billion HKD.
