The table illustrates information about the changes in the number of visitors, measured in millions, to five popular tourist attractions in Europe over a twenty-year period from 1981 to 2001.
Overall, it is evident that the amusement park consistently attracted the highest number of visitors throughout the period, while the zoo remained the least popular site. At the same time, all attractions experienced an increase in visitor numbers over the 20 years.
To begin with, in 1981, the British Museum had 2.98 million visitors. A decade later, it saw slight growth to 3.75 million visitors. By 2001, the number of visitors had dramatically increased to 4.30 million, almost doubling from the starting number. A similar trend was observed at the Rijksmuseum, which started with 2.44 million visitors and reached nearly doubled growth by 2001, with 4.28 million visitors.
Although the amusement park had the highest number of visitors throughout the years, it experienced a slight decrease from 7.50 million in 2001 to 7.01 million. Similarly, the National Aquatic Centre had 3.85 million visitors in 1981, but then experienced a slight decline by 2001. Meanwhile, the zoo’s number of visitors remained unchanged from 1981 to 2001.
