Amusement Parks were consistently the most popular destination in Europe over the period shown.
At the start of the period, there were 7.50 million people who visited Amusement Parks, making them the top European travel destinations, followed by the National Aquatic Centre, at 3.85M. Far below were The British museum and The Rijksmuseum, as their popularity stood at 2.98M and 2.44M. At the bottom of the list was Zoos, with only 1.01M.
Thereafter, the number of visitors travelling to Amusement Parks decreased to 6.8 million in 1991 then rose slightly, hitting a peak of 7.01 million in 2001. The National Aquatic Centre witnessed an inconsiderable decline in tourists, with its figure decreased slightly to 3.21M in 2001. In contrast, there was a notable growth in the number of visitors to The British museum rising sharply to 4.30M in 2001 which is similar to the figure for The Rijksmuseum. Tourists barely visited Zoos, which made them remain at a steady level, at 1.01M in 2001.
