The table above illustrates the adjustments over time regarding the share of lawyers in a particular nation selecting their occupations in four provided sectors, namely private lawyers, business-related and government-related work, and other work choices. Overall, in both of the two surveyed years, the largest percentages of men and women chose to work in the government.
For male individuals, the percentages remained quite stable in two time periods, with the share stayed unchanged in the business sector, along with an increase of 4% and 3% in the private lawyer and other industries, respectively. The most notable change is a significant drop in the government sector, decreasing from 45% to only 38% according to the table.
The figures also didn’t change dramatically for female. Particularly, both the propotions of women chose to work as private lawyers or business work increased from 17% and 14%, respectively, to 21% in 2016, along with an one-percent increase in the government industry. The percentage of women participating in other sectors recorded the most notable drop, declining from 28% to only 16% in 2016.
