The table gives information about the proportion of the female positions in parliamentary leadership and management in five different nations namely Canada, Norway, Tobago and Trinidad, Uruguay and Italy in 2000. Overall, the percentage of women seat in parliament leaders is higher than the figure for management counterparts in all given countries. In addition, whereas Norway recorded the highest figure, Uruguay had the lowest proportion in the year.
In terms of countries with higher figures for both sectors, Norway topped the list, with 36 and 52 percent respectively for goverment and management positions. Italy had the percentage of female management roles higher than that of Norway’s counterparts, which was the highest figure overall, at 54 percent while only 10 percent of parliament positions was occupied by women. Canada had the higher- than- average figure in both categories, at 28 percent for the former and 37 for the latter.
In the remaining countries, although only 8 percent of total seats in parliamentary leadership in Uruguay were held by women, its percentage of management roles was relatively high at 37 percent. Tobago had the rate of female management positions higher more than double that of government counterparts, at 19 percent and 40 percent respectively.
