Overall, Germany and France had the highest number of accidents throughout this period, while Poland, Austria and Portugal followed them respectively.
Regarding the number of accidents throughout this period, one can see that all the countries represented here experienced a decline except for Portugal. The number of accidents in the first three countries has gone down nearly 15000 cases, and Austria has also experienced a 2000 case drop. In the meanwhile, the fifth country, Portugal, reversed the trend and underwent a 2000 case increase from 2009 to 2019.
The number of the people killed however, does not follow the same order. Whilst, Poland was the leading country regarding the number of people killed in 2009, it experienced a roughly 40% decrease over the period up to 2019. Consequently, France and Germany were respectively the countries with the most number of people killed at the end of this period.
