Moreover, the average spend per visits category declined at first but rose gradually afterward. Finally, the highest and lowest averages of nights per visit happened in 2006 and in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
Regarding the number of visits and spend categories, the number of visits started at 24.715 millions in 2003, then climbed steadily and had reached 32.778 millions by 2007. Then, fell slightly and stood at 31.88 at the end of the period. However, spend began at 11.855 pound millions, followed by a gradual increase until reaching 16.323 in 2008.
Looking at the remaining categories, average spend per visit started at 475 in 2003, then declined slightly, before rising for the remaining years of the period. It finally stood at 511 in 2008. In addition, average nights per visit began at 8.2, remained constant, followed by a minor increase until 2006. It then experienced a fall to 7.7 in 2007 and levelled off until the end of the period.
