The table compares data on proportion of elderly people in rural and urban areas who allocated time for different leisure activities: reading, animated plays, playing and photography, in two years :1990 and 2010.
Overall, the percentage of adults who prefer to read in their free time is the highest in all areas and each year. While in the former year the least preferred activity was photography in the last year it was animated plays.
In detail, reading is the most popular means of activity among adults in both years and for both areas, which accounted for 61% in urban areas and 71% in rural areas for 1990, before increasing to 78% in 2010 in urban areas and reaching a similar figure in rural areas. In 1990, animated plays accounted for 10% in urban areas and remained the same in 2010, while in rural areas it decreased from 18% to 14%. The proportion of urban adults who participated in playing decreased from 21% to 14, while in rural areas this figure remained the same, at 26%. The figure for photography witnessed an increase in 2010 and accounted for 17% in urban areas and 24% in rural areas, after being at 7% and 14% in 1990, respectively.
