In detail, the highest percentage of total spending occupied by health was the USA with 40% in 2022. However, the proportion of health spending for this sector varied across other four countries, with 5% difference: Germany 35%, France 30%, Italy 25% and Japan 20%. Meanwhile, the public spending for health was mostly done by Germany with 18% overall, with the USA and France being almost similar, ranging at17% and 15% respectively.
When it comes to private expenditure for health, the USA was the highest paying with 20% While the figure for France consisted of 12%, almost half of this share was true for Japan, with 5%. The similar pattern can be seen for Germany making up 15%, however, Italy was 8% by 2022.
