The table illustrates the proportion of males and females who were working in different areas of employment in one country in 10-year intervals between 1986, 1996 and 2006.
The proportion of working males was higher than that of females in manufacturing industry and banking. While women outperformed men working in catering and education.
First looking at catering, in 1986 females had higher proportion of working there compared to males. The former accounted for 26% while the latter only for 16%. In 1996, men working in catering experienced slight improvement by 6 percent. While women maintaned the samel level of 26%. In 2006, males and females remained at the same level of 22 and 26 percent respectively. In 1986, Men and women who work in banking accounted for 11 and 12 percent respectively. In 1996, there was a significant growth in men who work in banking by 9 percent. while women go up by only 4 percent. At the end of the period the former accounted for 21 percent. While the latter for 19 percent.
Men’s dominated working in manufacturing industry. The proportion of males who were worked in manufacturing industry accounted for 32% while the females only for 18. In 1996 and 2006, males and females witnessed a significant decrease. The proportion of males accounted for 21% (in 1996) and 17% (in 2006). Females accounted for 12% (in 1996) and in 2006 it halved and accounted for 6%. Women working as a teacher outnumbered men by far. Men accounted for 13% and in the next two periods it experienced slight increase by 2% and accounted for 15%. While womens accounted for 33% and in the next two period increased by 5% and accounted for 38%.
