The table presents the outcome of a 25-year research on the use of bicycles in Britain ordered by age and gender.
Overall, it is evident that male between the age of 11 and 17 spent most time on their bike followed by male between 18 and 59. However, the average female spent less time on a bicycle with the fewest number for female between 5 and 10. In addition, it is visible that fewer people take their bike throughout the time.
Looking to the male categories, the highest distance travelled per year is visible in the age between 11 and 17 with distances beginning with 226 miles and decreasing to 126 miles. Furthermore, male between the age of 5 and 10 also declined slightly, but only from 32 to 16 miles. Nevertheless, the only male category that increased throughout the time is the category between 18 and 59 which goes from 71 to 80.
Turning to the female, the categories 11-17 and 18-59 both declined from 56 to 22 miles and from 29 to 20 miles respectively. In contrast, the category 5-10 also decreased steadily in the initial period, but experienced a significant increase in the last year.
Both sexes combined, the distances travelled per person per year fluctuated throughout the time between 29 and 14 miles.
